Family focus

These past several days have been very family focused. On Thursday of last week, we packed up the car and headed to Fayetteville, NC. Skip deployed on Saturday. It was very important to all of us that we all be there to tell him goodbye. I hope it meant as much to him as it do to the rest of us. So, we got to all hang out together for 2 nights.

Then today was John's birthday. 8 years old! How does the time go so fast? We circled the wagons around our little family of 5 and headed to Charlotte to spend time at Discovery Place - a hands on science museum type thing. We enjoyed it, but I think the best part was just being together. Then for supper tonight, 3 of the 4 grandparents and 1/3 of the aunts/uncles/cousins plus a couple of friends that should be family, came together at John's restaurant of choice.

It's been an emotional few weeks. I'm holding out for structure and calm for the next. Of course, I'll have to wait until after the sleepover/camp out this Friday night. :-)
