Update on life in the Fussell Funny Farm

I've had several people inquire lately as to our employment status, so I thought I'd take a minute here to update everyone. Our status is : NO CHANGE! Sigh. . . Chris is still getting unemployment and is working through the process of going back to school through them. He's gotten through the hurdles at unemployment, and is now in the hands of York Tech. The plan, right now, is for him to pursue a nursing degree or something in emergency medical management. In the meantime, we just keep putting one foot in front of the other. I'm incredibly grateful for Discover card right now, though I wonder if we'll ever get it paid off when we come through this. It makes me curious as to what some of the anti-credit card financial gurus like Dave Ramsey would say. Truthfully, unless they're going to come pay my bills, I don't really care.

The summer has been super busy. Both of the older kids attended day camps. Sara went to cheer leading camp through our church's sports league. And John went to Cub scout camp. We also did a quick trip up north to see my grandmother and spent a day in DC. Next week we have over 400 kids attending Vacation Bible school at our church. My job is to make sure everyone has a place to go and no one gets lost. Why, yes, I am pulling my hair out! I told someone yesterday that I think we should all get a 2 week paid vacation after this. I am really excited, though, about the idea of 430 kids coming together to worship God and learn about His truths.

We're also getting ready to celebrate Bethany's 3rd birthday! I really don't know how it happened, but suddenly I'm no longer a momma to any babies. :-( She is so grown up and so sassy and funny. And she has an enormous heart and loves her family. She told Chris the other night that she "loved him too much."

The flip side of that is that we're also preparing to send Skip, my brother, off to Iraq with the 82nd Airborne. He'll be leaving sometime in early August. I am so proud of him. And I tear up every time I think of my Scoob going off to a warzone.

Until next time,

  1. I love visiting your blog, Tina. God doesn't leave us, He carries us through the tough stuff. All will be well in His time.

Love the pictures of the kiddos. Hard to believe how quickly they are growing up.

Know we'll be praying for Skip right along with you. Love ya!
