Christmas time reflections

With it being so close to the end of the year, I've been thinking about Christmas letters and Christmas cards. This is the first year I haven't really thought about them before now. I think it's because our life has been so different these past few months. I can honestly say without a doubt that I did not expect us to be where we are right now. Some things I had planned for. My part time job, homeschooling the kids, volunteering with scouting and church. But I don't know that any of those things are quite the way I anticipated. I had 10 hours and numerous responsibilities come to me through my job. Home school doesn't look anything like what I had expected. And I surely did not anticipate that we'd be entering our 11th month with Chris unemployed. But God is so good. He has provided for our needs again and again through all of this. We've tightened our belts for sure, but we haven't had to go without (though I'm grateful that He hold my children's futures because we surely haven't been able to save for them). And all the things that are slightly different than I had imagined we are managing. Some days are significantly harder than other, but we are managing. It is good.
And I'm so excited because I'm able to see Him working in the lives of people I care about too. During this holiday season, there is much to be thankful for, isn't there?
My friend, Karen, shared a song with me recently. My prayer is that I would live this song. That we would all live it.

While I'm Waiting ~ John Waller

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord
